Buckle up, Sterling Heights! Portillo’s is motoring into town, opening its first restaurant in the state of Michigan on March 16, 2021.
We’re bun-believably excited to bring signature menu items like Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake to the Northern suburb of Detroit. Now, the wait is almost over!
The restaurant, located in the Golden Corridor of Sterling Heights, is the first-ever Portillo’s to feature our new garage prototype. We couldn’t think of a better way to cake shake our way into town than with a restaurant that pays homage to Motor City with an automotive theme and décor. It will officially open to the public at 10:30am on March 16. To celebrate the opening, we’ve created limited-edition t-shirts that will be given to guests who sign up for our Birthday Club, while supplies last.

A previous version of this article stated the Beef Bus would be vending in Sterling Heights on February 17. Due to inclement weather, we will no longer be able to bring the Beef Bus to Michigan.
