Good things come to those who wait, and our fans in Orlando, FL were exceptionally patient as they awaited the grand opening of our new restaurant in Lake Buena Vista, FL on Tuesday, June 15, 2021!
Fans lined up as early as 9 p.m. the night before to be among the first to enjoy Portillo’s unrivaled Chicago-style fare. Among them was Portillo's super fan Pete Robinson, the man who has been first in line to every single Portillo's grand opening since the first hot dog stand in Villa Park! Pete was gifted a special Portillo's vest with his name stitched on the back, presented by Portillo's founder, Dick Portillo.
The line of diners wrapped around the new '50s themed space, decked out with guitars, Coca-Cola memorabilia and classic advertisements from the decade. Guests on-the-go also utilized the restaurant's dual-lane drive-thru and curbside pickup options.
Prior to the grand opening, fans were invited for a free meal at Portillo’s on Monday, May 24, 2021 and Tuesday, May 25, 2021. The restaurant asked attendees to consider donating to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, with Portillo’s matching the donation amount. Through the collective generosity of local fans, the event was able to raise $11,073 for the Orlando charity partner.
It warms our buns to finally say we are open in Orlando! Thank you for a wonderful opening day—we think we make a great combo.
