How long have you been with Portillo’s and what made you come work for us?
12 Years, March 19, 2012. I had hit my ceiling with a previous franchise group I was with. A recruiter had such energy and passion for the brand and truly inspired me on the spot. Took a step back to reinvest in my future and can safely say that the decision has paid off.
What do you love about Portillo’s?
When we do it right, no one can beat us! This starts with the quality of our craveable food, service that is fast and friendly. Watching the team adapt to our leader's energy, with a game plan to Win the day. Ensure we execute all of this in a clean and safe environment.
What was your first position here and what position did you get promoted to?
Started out as a Restaurant Manager, trained at Forest Park and started my path at Northlake. Promoted six months to AGM, circled back to Forest Park. Spent time still as an AGM at Elmhurst, and Willow brook. Promoted in 2014 to GM of Bolingbrook before relocating to Florida in 2015 to open Brandon, Tampa, and Orlando. Punched our ticket to come back home as Market Manager in the late winter of 2022.
What do you love about your position?
The road with Portillo’s has been fun, challenging and rewarding. Being engaged and building partnerships with the markets 900+ leaders and TM’s is very exciting. It’s always humbling, when we remember what we do, and why we do it. It’s a people business, and to be surrounded by such passionate people in our organization fuels me with energy and momentum.
What advice would you give to someone at Portillo’s looking to move up?
The same message that was true 12 years ago, what you put into it is what you will get out of it. Never be afraid of making a mistake and allow yourself time and repetition to learn the operation. You must also create your own path, never lose sight of your confidence or the plan. Build a great team, set out to Win the day, and be willing to be coached.
Where do see yourself growing in this company?
Continued focus within operations at any capacity.
